About the Artist
Myrrh is a professional fine artist in oils. When she isn’t painting outside, she works out of her studio in downtown Houston, where she shows and sells her paintings.
Her artistic flare began in early childhood where she spent many years studying Dance and Theatre arts. Spending her childhood traveling the country, her favorite vacations were visiting beautiful lakes and National Parks. She moved to Clear Lake City in her teens, and attended the University of Texas as a Dance major.
Myrrh’s love of creativity translated naturally to oil painting. For 15 years, she studied the materials and techniques of the Old Masters. When introduced to the spontaneity and fun of impressionist techniques, she was hooked! Plein air painting has become her favorite pursuit the last few years. “I found nature to be an inspiring teacher--I load up my gear and head out to commune with the beauty of the countryside. One of my goals as an artist is to capture the spirit of the natural landscape.” Myrrh enjoys painting a variety of subjects, seeking in each their unique character and beauty.
She has had the privilege of studying with many great artists, including Sylvia Trybek, Steve Parker, Bill Kalwick, Kenn Backhaus and Efrim Frumin. Myrrh lives in Houston TX with her husband, Stephen, where they show and rescue Shiba Inu dogs.
