About the Artist
Myrrh is a professional fine artist in oils. When she isn’t painting outside, she works out of her studio in downtown Houston, where she shows and sells her paintings.
Her artistic flare began in early childhood where she was attracted to dance and drama. Spending her childhood a ‘bit of everywhere,’ she moved to Houston in her teens.
Myrrh’s love of drama and creativity translated naturally to oil painting. For 15 years, she studied the materials and techniques of the Old Masters. When introduced to the spontaneity and fun of impressionist painting, she was hooked! Plein air painting has become her favorite pursuit the last few years. “I found nature to be an inspiring teacher--I load up my gear and head out to commune with the beauty of the countryside. My goal as an artist is to capture the spirit of the natural landscape.”
She has had the privilege of studying with many great artists, including Efrim Frumin, Steve Parker, Bill Kalwick, Kenn Backhaus and Sylvia Trybek. Myrrh lives in Houston TX with her husband, Stephen, where they show and rescue Shiba Inu dogs.
